The Shriners Hospital for Children, in St. Louis, Missouri was opened April 8, 1924 and in 1963 the old hospital was closed and a new Shriners Hospital was opened, becoming an 80 bed facility. The largest patient care facility of all Shriner Hospitals.
The hospital provides care for children with orthopedic problems. The hospital serves families in a nine state area to include Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Although these are the states the St. Louis Hospital normally serves, it is not limited to these states, as a matter of fact, it treats children from all over the globe.
